Your Privacy on NITIZEN

NITIZEN is committed to the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the regulations of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). This policy governs all data collected through the NITIZEN platform.

What We Collect

We collect only data you voluntarily submit: name, email, phone (optional), and message content through our contact, submission, and membership forms. AskNaija does not collect or store your questions — all chat activity exists only in your browser session and is never transmitted.

How We Use Your Data

Data submitted through forms is used solely for: responding to your enquiry, processing your submission for editorial review, or activating your membership. We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third party for commercial purposes.

Your Rights (NDPA 2023)

You have the right to: access your data, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, withdraw consent, and data portability. Exercise any right by emailing hello@nitizen.ng with subject "Data Rights Request". We respond within 7 days.

Form Processing (Formspree)

Form submissions are processed by Formspree (formspree.io), which operates under GDPR and international privacy standards. Formspree acts as a data processor under our instruction. Data is transmitted via encrypted HTTPS. Formspree's privacy policy is at formspree.io/privacy.

Data Retention

Form submissions are retained for 12 months for editorial and membership administration purposes, then deleted unless ongoing engagement requires retention. Membership payment data is retained for 7 years as required by Nigerian financial record-keeping obligations.

Complaints

If you believe your data rights have been violated, you may: (1) contact us at hello@nitizen.ng, or (2) file a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at ndpc.gov.ng. We take all data complaints seriously and respond within 14 days.
